Kia ora koutou,

My name is Alistair and I am really happy to be joining Te Kura o Tawatawa - Ridgway School. I grew up in New Zealand and, after graduating from university in Wellington, I lived overseas for many years. 

I have taught in a range of schools in London, Singapore, Melbourne and Wellington. I am very excited to join the amazing team and community at Ridgway and I look forward to working with the students. 

My son, Mateo, is currently at the school. He's in Ruru, in Year 1. 

Outside of the classroom, I love to be on the beaches, in the forests and up the mountains of Aotearoa, and travelling to learn about new places and cultures remains a passion.

Julie will be stepping into Ruru to work with Felicity while Estelle studies three days a week (she is still with us two days a week). 

The other teaching teams are staying the same with Derek and James in Kererū, Jasmin and Daniel in Tūī and Nicole and Nathan in Kōtare.

New bark at the bottom of the slides

We are getting a whole lot of bark delivered to school on Monday afternoon. We would love some help getting it down to the bottom of the slides, which is its forever home. If anyone is available from Monday afternoon with a wheelbarrow and a shovel, we’d love to see you! 

Container Art delayed

This has been postponed until sometime in Term 4, once the university has got ethics approval. 

Brooklyn Twilight Festival

Hooray! Our kapa haka group have been invited to open the Brooklyn Twilight Festival on November 14th.  Hopefully we can get a big crew together to represent!

Year 5/6 Netball Season

The two year 5/6 netball teams completed their seasons with finals on the 12th of September. The Kereru Stars triumphed 13-9 against Scots College to finish third in grade 5/6C while the Kereru Comets won 6-4 against their arch rivals Kilbirnie to finish fifth in the same grade. Congratulations to the record-breaking 16 netballers who trained and played with such fantastic dedication, while showing wonderful manaakitanga within their teams! And a big thank you to our fantastic coaches and managers for their support.

Marquee for TRYathlon

Does anyone have a marquee (or similar) that we can borrow for the Weetbix TRYathlon at the end of February next year? We have about 20 kids signed up now so it would be great to have somewhere they can gather!  Please let Jack’s mum Becky know if you do.
