Raising Resilient Children - 26 May
We have partnered with our local schools to bring Kathryn Berkett to speak to our community about Raising Resilient Children. This is an evening event from 6.30 - 8pm at Island Bay School. Each school has been allocated 50 tickets. Please fill out this form if someone from your household would like to attend. If all our spaces fill up, there will be a waitlist in case the other schools don’t use their allocation.
Year 7 & 8 Overnight Camp
This year we introduced a new initiative for our senior students: a self-supported overnight camp in the Remutaka Forest Park. Working in small groups, students planned and packed all the equipment and food they needed for the night. This was quite the challenge for some of the groups but everyone ended up having a tent to sleep in and food to eat. Success!
It was such a fantastic experience that the group has already decided to run it again in Term 4.
Basketball
We need more players in our Year 3 & 4 and Year 7 & 8 teams! Have a chat with your child and see if they are keen to play then sign them up! Basketball Sign Up
Salvation Army Food Drive
Thanks for all the donations so far. Please keep that non-perishable food coming!
Movin’ March this year
Sounds like we are a bit late to the party, seeing as we are mid-March, but behind the scenes it has been a Movin’ March fiesta! It’s running a bit differently this year without the passports being stamped every day. There are in-class draws with socks, pencils, note pads and more to give away to those who ‘move’ their way to school.
If you drive your little delight to school every day, we encourage you to park further away and let them bike, scoot or walk at least some of the way to school. It helps with traffic management too which makes the teachers on road patrol very happy!
