Bonjour à toutes nos familles

Science kits

Every month, we get a new Science Kit from House of Science.  This is funded through Frenz (a not-for-profit organisation helping schools across New Zealand open and operate quality French-English bilingual programmes) as part of having a bilingual French class (as the kits are in French as well as English, yay, thanks Frenz!).

With the last kit, the junior school and Ruru looked at magnets, asking do opposites attract?  They experimented to explore the properties of magnets, magnetic fields, how compasses work and the phenomenon of magnetism.

The next kit has arrived and is about the Nature of Science and how scientists look at the world

The whole school will take part in activities that help students think like a scientist, ask good questions and distinguish between an observation and an inference.

Kai and Waiata Night

On Wednesday the 21st of June from 5:30pm-7pm we will be hosting a Kai and Waiata Night for whānau and tamariki. We will also be showing the new Kapa Haka uniform design and discussing the upcoming Matariki celebration in term 3. ALL WELCOME! If you can bring a plate to share that would be wonderful..

Upcoming Learning Conferences

These conferences are where you meet with your child’s kaitiaki teacher for 15 minutes and discuss where your child is at with their learning, where to next for their learning and how to help them at home. They are from 3.30 - 8pm on Thursday 29  June and from 8am - 4pm on Friday 30 June (as this is a teacher only day and school is closed). Kākā (Year 7 & 8) also have the option of during the day on Thursday, as Harriette has so many wonderful children to talk about at these year levels!  Here is the link to book (code 4k4e2). If you’re not sure who your child’s kaitiaki teacher is, check your emails or ask the office.

Ponchos! Get your ponchos!

As promised, here is the order form if you wish to order one of these little beauts for your child to keep them and their bag dry in our dodgy Term 2 and Term 3 weather conditions…and given the state of the weather these days, possibly Term 4 as well!
