Teacher: French-English Bilingual Class
Starting - Term 1 2019
We invite applications from New Zealand registered* teachers for the role of foundation teacher in our new French Bilingual class to be opened at the start of the 2019 school year.
Ridgway School has a highly engaged, supportive community and our students come to school ready to learn. Our teachers work collaboratively to ensure that our students achieve success across all aspects of school life and develop the skills they need to be confident, connected, actively involved, lifelong learners.
There is a strong demand for French-English bilingual education in Wellington and a full class of students (aged 5 - 10) waiting to take up the opportunity. As the teacher of this class you will enjoy strong support from both student’s whānau, Unité Bilingue, FRENZ and the wider French speaking community in Wellington. There will also be opportunities to network with other bilingual class teachers.
Students accepted into the bilingual class will spend a minimum of 60% of their time learning in French. They will work within the NZ curriculum and the French class programme will be aligned with the rest of the school.
Both the French class teacher, and students from this class would be fully engaged in all whole school activities, including assemblies, tuakana teina activities, learning te reo, kapa haka, and various sporting and cultural activities.
Ridgway is a BYOD school and students will be expected to bring their own i-pad (Years 1-3) or Chromebook (Years 4 - 8).
