Thursday 29 June

He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa
Bonjour à toutes nos familles

Last day of term today - school closed Friday

Just an extra reminder that Friday 30 June is a Teacher Only Day. The endless entertainment of your children starts tomorrow. Look out Timezone and Chipmunks, we’re coming for you.

Market Day

Thanks to everyone who came along or made stuff to be sold. It was such a fun event and we raised close to $3,000 to go towards our kapa haka uniforms.  Amazing work everyone!

Basketball success!

What a season for our basketball teams.  With remarkable coaches in all our teams, we are extremely lucky at Ridgway.  Three of our teams came first, second and third in their respective divisions!  Great effort by everyone in the basketball teams and their hardworking coaches.

Matariki celebration next term

We are having our celebration in the first week of Term 3, on Thursday from 5.30pm.  We will have waiata first, followed by a hāngī cooked in our Kai Cooker at school. We will ask each child to bring a vegetable or two and they will be involved in preparing the hāngīduring the day. We will also have a sausage sizzle.

New German teacher

We have found a German teacher to take over from Niklas. She will be starting at the start of Term 3.  If you would like to sign your child up for lessons, contact the office@ridgway.school.nz.  There is a cost for these lessons and they happen on Friday during class time.

If you’re going away…

Please let the office know. If you just tell the teachers, they sometimes forget to pass this on. Crazy I know!

Life Education Trust - Harold the Giraffe

In the first week back of next term, Harold the Giraffe is visiting us!  This is a health programme designed by Life Education Trust where a bus comes and parks up for the week and children have lessons on the bus, delivered with the help of a giant giraffe called Harold. Find out more here

Swimming Lessons

These start in the second week of next term and happen weekly on Tuesdays for Year 1 - 3 and Fridays for the Year 4 - 8.
Year 1 - 5 swim at Little Makos in Berhampore and Year 6 - 8 go to Karori Pool. We will be asking for parent help for our littlies.
Start dates are Tuesday 25 and Friday 28 July.

Farewell to the wonderful Laura Cherry

We sadly say haere rā to the wonderful Laura.  She is heading back to Canada and has already started wearing her summer clothes in preparation. We will miss her sense of humour and her lovely manner with the children.
