He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa
Bonjour à toutes nos familles
The Silent Auction!
The numbers are in. We raised $6,191. Massive thank you to all those who donated items or a service for the auction! An even bigger thank you goes to Gemma Poke, Otto in Ruru’s mum, who was the driving force behind the auction - her super powers of organisation and getting stuff done made this whole thing run smoothly. Also doing the good works and getting donations from local businesses, the lovely Sheila Paul. Thank you both so much. 🥰
Our Matariki Celebration - 18 June 5.30 - 7pm
On Wednesday 18 June, our school will be celebrating Matariki - Māori New Year. We will have an evening of celebration for our school community, including waiata (singing), pūrakau (stories) and kai (food).
During the day, tamariki will be involved in preparing vegetables for our hāngī and we ask that every child bring a vegetable to contribute to the shared hāngī. Our junior tamariki will have a senior buddy to help them with the peeling. If you have a peeler you could send with your child, that would be great (but you may want to name it to make sure it makes it home safe and sound to the cutlery drawer). Vegetables that work well in the hāngī are potatoes, carrots, kumara, parsnip, pumpkin, yams and onions.
We will also have a sausage sizzle on the night so bring a gold coin if you would like to get amongst. Please BYO plate and utensils for the delicious hāngī vegetables!
To help us with numbers for catering (and to solve the eternal question ‘how many sausages are too many?’) and to indicate if you’re able to help sizzle those snags please fill out our form.
Upcoming Staff Only Day - 3rd June
Just a reminder we are closed on Tuesday! We are running Rascals that day so you can sign up the usual way using Enrolmy if you need childcare for that day.
‘Every Corner Project’ Grant success
We were lucky enough to get a grant to plant a rongoā garden and food forest at school. We will be looking for helpers to come and be part of a working bee in July to get this underway. More details to come! Huge thanks to Otto’s dad Peter for getting this across the line for us.
