Ridgway Reboot: A Garage Sale Extravaganza

We’re planning to host a Garage Sale without the garage, here at school on Saturday November 1st (with a postponement date of November 8th) from 11am - 2pm.  This is the perfect chance to sell your pre-loved clothes, toys, books, household items, and more.  You will be able to book a stall space and keep the profits from what you sell or donate back to the school to help fund our new library.

We’re looking for some keen helpers to join our marketing and comms team to spread the word and get the community involved. If you have skills (or just enthusiasm!) in promotion, design, social media, or good old-fashioned flyer drops, we’d love your help.
We will also need some people on the day in the very flattering high vis vests to ensure the day runs smoothly.

Please email fundraising@ridgway.school.nz if you’re able to help out in any way.

Library

Exciting plans are underway to convert a large section of our open-plan Tawa space into a school library. As part of this process we are removing books from our collection that are in poor condition or out of date, and acquiring awesome new books. A number of books from our catalogue remain unaccounted for. If you happen to have any Ridgway School library books hiding out at home we'd be grateful to receive them back, no questions asked (and only a tiny amount of side eye)!

Over the next 6 months, we’ll be purchasing and processing lots of fantastic new books for our tamariki. To protect these books and extend their lifetimes, we are seeking parent volunteer support to cover them with clear contact covering. In Term 4 and Term 1 next year, you will be given a box of uncovered books, along with a roll of clear contact covering material and instructions (if needed). You’ll have a few weeks to cover them at home at your leisure, before returning them to the school office. Here’s a sample of the take-home box. Please email lucy@ridgway.school.nz if you are able to help out with this.

Term 4 and hats

We require students to wear hats that shade the face, neck, and ears whenever they are outdoors during school hours and/or activities, e.g. interval and lunch breaks, P.E., sports days, outdoor EOTC trips, and other school activities. Students at school without a hat must remain in an allocated shaded area. Hats must be broad-brimmed (min. 7.5 cm), or legionnaire/bucket hats (min. 6 cm brim, deep crown).

In the past we have allowed our Year 7 & 8s to wear caps, but we are going to stick to our policy from now on to encourage all our children to be sun smart.

Yummy Stickers

Bring these into the office so we can get some PE gear!
