Bonjour à toutes nos familles

Market Day

We have a Market Day coming up - Tuesday 27 June from 3 - 5pm (end time TBC). Put this into your calendar. This supports our discovery learning this term which focuses on creation and innovation. All of our tamariki will be contributing to this in various ways. Over the next few weeks, there may be an opportunity for you to ‘koha’ some resources for this event. Examples of koha may be small shells, small jars and wool. We will confirm these over the next few weeks. Keep an eye on the newsletter for ways you can help!

Tree top walkway starting on Monday!

Hopefully, depending on the weather, work will start on the tree top walkway and adventure playground on the bank on Monday.  There will be fencing around the top and the work will take around 2 months to complete.

Farewell to Laura and a welcome to Nicole

We are very sad that the lovely Laura Cherry is leaving us at the end of this term to go back to Canada.  We have appointed Nicole Lim who will take over from Laura when she leaves.  Nicole is currently working across the school four days a week so you may see her in the classrooms until she joins Kōtare full time next term.

Please check your details

Please check via the @school app that the details we hold are correct for immunisations, address, phone numbers, emergency contacts etc.

Upcoming Community Consultation

As in last week’s newsletter, we are randomly selecting around 30 families to help inform our strategic direction. If you have been selected a member of the Board will be in touch with you to arrange a catch up. Again, if you don’t hear from us but would like to contribute, we’d love to hear from you. Just send sarah@ridgway.school.nz an email and we will set up a chat.  You should hear by the end of this week if you are one of the lucky ones who have been selected and we hope to have all the conversations done by the 8th of June.

Southern Zones Cross Country

We had a great time at the Southern Zones Cross Country competition on Tuesday, with everyone ending up covered in mud!  All our runners did extremely well, loads made it into the top ten in their age group and we have ten runners going through to the Interzones competition on 13 June. Ridgway took out 1st and 2nd Year 8 boy (Thomas D and Harvey), 2nd Year 8 girl (Hannah) and 2nd Year 5 boy (Jesse).  Congratulations to all our runners!
