Bonjour à toutes nos familles

Our Kids Online - parent evenings

We have two of these scheduled.  The session will run for approximately 90 minutes and we can do the whole thing in one go. This means that the second session will just be a repeat of the first. We will have childcare available on site and if you require this can you please email sarah@ridgway.school.nz so we know how many children to expect.

We are unable to offer this online, however if you cannot attend either of the evening sessions, you have the option to enrol in 'The Big Reconnect', an online safety course for parents/caregivers which also contains the Cyber Safety Presentation, at a cost of $49.  To do so, please go to the 'For Parents' tab on the Our Kids Online website and enter the code RECONNECT50 when you enrol in the course.

Check your contact details

Please check your contact details are correct via the app and notify the office if there have been changes.

If you want your child to be a part of these award winning music lessons, and want to be a part of their new curriculum and performing opportunities, then in-school lessons may be the solution for you. You can also call them on 04 568 2237. Spaces are limited so get in quick!

Chats with Kathryn and Sarah

We are available to chat each Friday morning down at VBC from about 9am.  Feel free to come and join us for coffee and chat on a Friday morning.

German classes

We offer German classes on a Friday with Niklas from the Goethe Institut. If your child was in these classes last year, we will automatically put them back in them this year (so get in touch if you’d rather they didn’t continue). If you’d like your child to join the classes, please email sarah@ridgway.school.nz.  There is a small cost for these classes and they cater for beginners through to native speakers.  We also have three German interns with us this term so there will be opportunities across the school for German language this coming term.

Physical Stories for Kids

We have a new exciting opportunity open to our 5 to 7 year old tamariki in 2023. Ridgway School will be providing space for Physical Stories for Kids sessions every Tuesday after school. The classes are fun and educational, plus another benefit for busy parents is that you will not need to collect your child from school till 5pm.

Joanne Lisik has been running Physical Stories for the last year in Island Bay and Brooklyn and is now bringing classes to us! Joanne is a fully registered teacher and also a parent of our school. Her daughter will be moving into Year 2 in 2023 and she will be taking part in the classes, in fact Leia is the reason Joanne started these classes. Joanne wanted a class that combined physical movement and mindfulness for kids. Through story-telling Joanne has created an interactive physical programme that uses drama, kids yoga/movement, songs, and reflection time, to build on children’s concentration, confidence and collaboration skills.

This is a great opportunity for your tamariki so please get in contact with Joanne to sign your child up for a trial session if you’re interested.

Ngā mihi,

Sarah Patterson
