Transitions - looking ahead to 2020

As we look ahead to next year, we are working to help our children transition smoothly into next year's whānau groups. For the last 4 weeks of the term, children will spend time with their teachers for next year for part of the day on Wednesday. Teachers will plan engaging activities that enable them to get to know the children and help the children to feel comfortable with their new peer group. Those who are leaving us at the end of the year will spend time with Julie or Sue in the library.

Our organisation for next year looks like this:

New Entrants: Julie Hanify

Year 1 - 3: Anna Kensell, Harriette Cowan and Danny Crow

Year 4 - 5: Jenny Jessep and Martin Anscombe

Year 6 - 8: Pam Clarke and Libby Hainsworth

Ruru: Nicolas Delaire

Lantern Festival

Today and tomorrow our whole school are involved in making lanterns as part of next year's Wellington Lantern Festival More details here! These Lanterns will be displayed in a designated area on the Wellington waterfront from the 14th -15th of February. A week after the festival, lanterns will be returned to school so the children can take them home.

Health Consultation

Thanks to those who came along to our Health Consultation evening last week. If are you are interested in what we talked about you can have a look at this overview and the slides from the consultation evening. Please email any questions or feedback you have to sarah@ridgway.school.nz.

School Sports Day - Thursday 14 Nov 9:30 - 12:30

This is a fun day held at school where all children get to take part in different athletics and fun activities. Fingers crossed for sunshine!

Production

As most of you will be aware, we are preparing for a whole school production. This is the chance for all our children to have their moment on the stage and includes everyone at school. It will be performed at Wellington High School in the Riley Centre on December 10th from 6pm. If you would be interested in being a part of a "surprise" parent item please email sarah@ridgway.school.nz (and don't mention it to your children). If they haven't already, your child's whānau teacher may be in touch with requests for costume items and parent help so keep your eyes on the weekly message.

Jump Jam

Huge congratulations to our Jump Jam team who travelled to Tauranga for the national competition at the weekend. They put on an awesome performance and came second. They also got many other awards including the Sportsmanship Award. We are all really proud of them and also of Jenny and Anna for their expert coaching. You can see a snippet of their performance over on our facebook page.
