Ridgway After School Care Programme (RASCals)
Ridgway School is proud to offer RASCals, our school-run after school care programme for children enrolled at Ridgway. RASCals operates during term time on school days from 3:00–6:00pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).
What makes RASCals unique is that it is not just an after school care programme - it is a true extension of the Ridgway school day and community. We are the only after school care programme we know of that is staffed by qualified teachers, creating a level of consistency, care, and connection that is hard to find elsewhere. Because the adults supporting children already know them, children feel safe, settled, and understood.
This continuity creates significant benefits for children and families. Strong existing relationships help support positive behaviour, smooth transitions from the school day, and meaningful connections across the wider school community. Our staff can also support children with homework, reading, or unfinished school tasks when needed, while still ensuring there is plenty of time to relax, play, and unwind.
Each afternoon includes a light afternoon tea, followed by a mix of downtime and engaging activities led by our programme supervisors and teaching staff. Whether children need quiet recovery time after a busy day, support with learning, or opportunities to connect and play with friends, RASCals provides a warm, familiar, and nurturing environment.
