Toi Tawatawa Taurima - Festival of the Arts - 8 December 6 - 7.30pm

This term in Discovery Learning we are learning to tell our stories through the arts, to tatau korero.  Tamariki have opted into either visual arts, drama, music and wearable arts to tell stories.  We also have a marketing crew working on this.  We invite whānau to come and join us for the celebration of our learning.   Wander through our spaces and experience our stories, told through the arts. 

Increase in COVID cases at school

We have three teachers with COVID at the moment.  Please do keep your children home if they are sick, even if it’s just the sniffles.  The pesky COVID appears to be making a comeback!

If you notice anything concerning, please get in touch with either the leadership team (Kathryn and Sarah) or the office. Our procedure states:

If a parent/caregiver has concerns about incidents between students, staff, or other parents/caregivers, they should contact our school directly to voice their concerns through the appropriate channels. We do not encourage parents/caregivers to approach students, their whānau, or other members of the school community to privately discuss behaviour issues. This also applies to incidents that occur out of school time or off school grounds but when students are still connected with the school e.g. at camp or on school trips or travelling to and from school.

Welcome to our new office interns

Welcome to our new office interns from New Caledonia.  Kaylian and Oriana are here for the term to get experience working in the office so say hello and make them welcome!

Spooky Disco at Vogelmorn

We are super excited to invite you to the 2022 Spooky Halloween Disco @ Vogelmorn!

Sunday 30 October 2022 from 4pm to 7pm @ the Vogelmorn Hall

This is an accessible building, however it does not have an accessible bathroom.

Please get in touch if you have any questions regarding accessibility.

We will have a spooky tunnel, a treasure hunt, a photobooth and of course, DJ monster pumping the tunes to get you all grooving on the dance floor!

We can't wait to see you all there for terrifying treats and devilish dance moves!

Entry is free with koha welcome.

We will have snacks and non-alcoholic beverages available on a pay-what-you-can basis.

A reminder about enrolments for 2023

If you have children who are starting school next year, it would be great if you could enrol them now so we have accurate numbers. At this stage we have some space for out of zone enrolments at most year levels, so if you know anyone who lives out of zone and is keen to come to Ridgway, pass on the good news!

Chess Tournament

This is on 15 November here at school.  All students are welcome to compete and there is a $5 fee. Please fill out this form to enter your child. 

Gumboot Friday -  4 November

We have signed up to support Gumboot Friday. Gumboot Friday provides a free counselling service for young people 25 and under.  On Friday 4 November children can wear their gumboots and bring a gold coin to donate to help raise money for this for free counselling service.  We will have a gumboot throw too so might be a good idea to name those gumboots!
