Term 3 round up

Term 3 is always a big term.  The weather is challenging, it’s dark a lot of the time and generally a bit of a slog to get through to the end of the term, especially this year with high levels of staff sickness.  I thought I’d remind us about some of the highlights of the term as we look ahead to Term 4 and the start of summer.

  • We moved into our beautiful new building! Finally!

  • Swimming lessons for all.

  • Noho marae for Year 4 - 6 - what an awesome experience!

  • Our Year 5 / 6 camp and Year 7 / 8 camps - successful despite being run in the winter term!

  • Fun Futsal tournaments, basketball, and netball across the term.

  • German lessons started up again - ausgezeichnet!

  • Girls’ self defence for Year 6 - 8

  • Cricket coaching session for Year 3 - 6

  • Fundraising lunches week made and delivered once a week with the help of some awesome Year 6 - 8s and a lovely grandma Maree Housiaux.

Looking forward to a great Term 4 with you all.

Basketball coach correction!

Whoops! In my excitement of two winning Ridgway teams, I got the coach of the Year 3/4 team wrong. It was, of course, the wonderful Robyn Connor who coached the team to victory. Thanks for all your dedication and hard work, Robyn. You’re an absolute legend!

Sunhats for Term 4

Term 4 is a sunhat term.  We ask that all children wear wide brimmed hats during break times and when outside. We have these for sale at the office. Please name them because they seem to enjoy going off on adventures when they’re not on their owner’s heads. We have sunblock children can use at school and if your child needs specific sunblock please send this in their bags.

End of term assessment

You should be able to see all your child’s end of term assessments via the app. Any issues with the app or if you don’t use it yet (shocked face) email the office to get them to help you set it up.

Spare recycling bags

Does anyone have any spare recycling bags at home, getting in the way and making a general nuisance of themselves?  We’d love to take them off your hands if you have any spare. Please either bring them into the office or send them with your child to hand in.

The Ridgway Comets

Well done to our senior netball team the Ridgway Comets who had a great netball season this year. The rain meant a lot of games were cancelled but the ones that were played were fiercely contested and the team showed real skill and fitness. Netball is a fast, fun game - anyone interested in playing next year please get in touch with Pam Clarke. Big thank you to our wonderful coaches Joel Wyatt and Sam Dean who not only encouraged, supported and coached the team through their Saturday games but also gave up their Thursday lunchtimes to come and take training sessions. And also - CAKE.
