Term 2, Week 7, 2019 (Thursday 13 June)

He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa - warm greetings to all!

Jump Jam!

This was such a cool event held last week on Friday night. We had 7 teams taking part and we won 'Most Supportive School'. The cheering from Ridgway supporters was almost deafening! Our Year 1-3 Pandas came first and the Year 1-3 Lions came third. Our Year 4 - 8 Divas came first and our Year 4 - 8 Stars came third. Such an amazing effort! Even though it was lovely to win all the awards, what was even better was the participation from our children and the looks on their faces as they got up on the stage to perform. It was a really proud Ridgway moment. Big thank you to Jenny Jessep for organising this event and also for coaching. Also Anna, Martin and Libby for their hard work coaching the teams.

Southern Zones Cross Country

This event was held on Tuesday at Houghton Valley School. Everyone ran really well. We have 21 students who have qualified in the top ten of their year group going through to the Interzones on Tuesday 18 June. Thanks to all the parents who came, helped and supported us at this event.

Matariki Celebration - 20 June

Once again the whānau group is inviting all students with their parents and grandparents to celebrate Matariki at Ridgway on Thursday 20th June. Our Matariki Evening starts at 5.30pm with a kapa haka performance.

(Children need to gather in te whare nui by 5.20) and kai will be shared at 6pm.

Please bring a plate of food to share and BYO cutlery, plates and drink bottle. There will be hangi and other kai, kapa haka, waiata and storytelling. Koha/ donations appreciated. We would love you to come and have a nice time gathering, reflecting and celebrating the beginning of the Māori New Year.

We are collecting food items for the residents of Tapu Te Ranga Marae who were affected by the tragic fire. It would be great if you could bring a can, chocolate or another item for a food hamper.

Noho oro mai.
